    Title: Application of microwaves to the anaerobic digestion of active sludge: Semi-continuous studies in laboratory and pilot scale (AMDALA+)

    Description: The project intends to develop a system that pre-treats the active sludge before the anaerobic digestions. This is done by the microwaves irradiation that increases the production of digestive gas, increasing its electrical energy generating capacity and, consequently its energy self-sufficiency. It increases the stability of the digested sludge, decreasing the production of smelly gas in the next processes. It would also lead to the saving thanks to the decresead production of sludge conditioning reagents, hence an improvement in the productive process. It is a continuation of the AMDALA project, The difference is that testing are semi-continuous and done in laboratory and pilot case.

    Participating organisations: EMASESA is the promoter and leader, with the collaboration of the group PAI RNM-271 “Chemical Engineering of Córdoba”, the company EMITE Ingeniería and Instituto Andaluz de Tecnología.

    Description: Technological evolution AMICO, a project that involves the design and development of a remote cold water meter reading system.

    Participating organisations: EMASESA is the promoter and leader and collaborates with UTE ISOTROL-ARTEIXO.

    Title: Waste applications in construction and demolition of trench work processes (ARCO)

    Description: The project relates to the study of different ways of reusing waste material from the construction and demolition industry and their usage as ditch fillers in installation or reparation works of water supply. The value of this waste could open up new ways of utilising and managing this type of materials in an environmentally sustainable manner. This is also a beneficial solution from an economical point of view , as the materials that were used before for filling ditches will be saved.

    Participating organisations: EMASESA is the promoter and leader, in partnership with the companies VORSEVI, CONTRAT Y ARISTERRA, and the collaboration of the research groups TEP-172 Arquitectura: Diseño y Técnica and TEP-107 Estructuras y Geotecnia of the University of Seville.

    Title: Decrease of non-income generating water caused by nontechnical leaks (DECOA)

    Description: This project aims to determine a mathematical model allowing to detect fraudulent activities in the water supply system and help with finding, inspecting, and regularising it in order to minimise non technically ralated losses.

    Participating organisations: EMASESA is the promoter and leader, collaborating with the research group PAI TIC-150 Grupo de Investigación Tecnológica Electrónica e Informática Industrial and Instituto Andaluz de Tecnología.

    Budget: 217.018,20 €

    Title: Adaptation of toxic phytoplankton to climate change: consequences in reservoirs and wetlands, shelter of wild fauna (FITOPLANCTON)

    Description: The project explores the capacity and coping mechanisms of toxic phytoplankton in continental waters under different climate conditions while analysing historical data. This information is then monitored and integrated into a model about the effect of global climate change in relation to toxic phytoplankton in reservoirs and wetlands of great ecological interest.

    Participating organisations: EMASESA collaborates in the project led by the Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC), the Instituto de Ciencias Marinas de Andalucía (CSIC), Espacio Natural de Doñana (Junta of Andalusia) and the School of Veterinary of Complutense University of Madrid.

    Budget: 201.011,00 € (without budget allocation for EMASESA)

    Title: Streams consistent measures: automatized correction and improvement of measures from instrumentation (MCQ)

    Description: This projects aims to develop a new technique and its evolution as a tool that fulfills the current needs of EMASESA such as measurements from flow instrumentation, estimation of deviations, automatic recalibration and automatic detection of anomalies in flowmeters.

    Participating organisations: EMASESA is the promoter and leader, in partnership with the companies OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE and B-ABLE, and with the collaboration of the research groups PAI TEP-116 Automática y robótica industrial, TIC-201 Aplicaciones cibernéticas de la electrónica a las tecnologías de la Información and TEP-192 Control y Robótica.

    Budget: 159.631,5 3€ (137.404,83 € allocated to EMASESA)

    Title: Optimisation system of water networks (SENSOTUBO)

    Description: This project is about the development of a new system for the supply network, designing a tube of improved properties, and at the same time serving as the informer for network anomalies and any other quality parameters that are of interest. This is a management and control tool for the supply network.
    Participating organisations: EMASESA is part of the consortium of companies, as ABN PIPE SYSTEM (leader of the project), Canal de Isabel II and the University of Valladolid.

    Budget: 4.240.403 € (360.028,00 € allocated to EMASESA)
